Kit
Once you become a member of SYO, you can choose to get any of our club kit. A good one to start with is the Running Top, as you can wear it to run at all the events you go to - and you'll be representing the club, so it's really handy for things like the Yvette Baker & Peter Palmer junior competitions.

You might have noticed in some pictures that we can't resist putting on some warpaint for our bigger competitions. We can be pretty creative, with stencils for our Club Rose to add a bit of class! And sometimes, we even manage to get some facepaint on the adults! It is of course optional, but you can expect it at things like the Yvette Baker, the Peter Palmers and relays.
As well as facepaint, some of us (girls and boys!) also like to do our nails for the club competitions - we like to think it gets us dibbing and turning our compasses faster! (Again, totally optional)
With both facepaint and nail varnish, you're welcome to bring your own along, but we will provide it when neccesary!
SYO Junior Mascot – Bertie the Bee
Hi there! I’m Bertie, the SYO Junior Mascot. I’ll be there at all the Club Junior Competitions to cheer the team on!
But I don’t just have to sit in the club tent – I’m well equipped for orienteering, with 3 pairs of O-shoes on my feet, and the SYO rose on my wings. But obviously it’s my black and yellow stripes, just like the iconic SYO Kit, that really make me part of the team!
My influence has also rubbed off on our Relay Team names – you might notice teams called SYO Killer, Honey, Worker, Bumble & Carpenter Bees at club competitions like the JK and Peter Palmer Relays.
