Sandall beat is a flat but attractive runnable woodland.   Map extended in 2022/23 by Henry Marston and Ian Cooper to include Armthorpe Park, a reclaimed spoil heap from the Armthorpe colliery that has been landscaped with open areas broken up by patches of woodland and Pit Top Park, a new urban area.
