These activity days have been funded by Sheffield City Council’s Economic Recovery Fund and with the support of Choose Chapeltown Business Forum.

What is Orienteering?
It's a great way to explore the outdoors. The aim is to navigate between control points marked on an orienteering map. Choose the best route to complete the course in the quickest time you can.
Who's it for?
Anyone can do orienteering. South Yorkshire Orienteers has members from 5 to 82! It appeals to runners but also to people who enjoy the outdoors and would like to improve their navigation skills. This free activity day is particularly suited to families but everyone is welcome.
Location
We will be based at the Bandstand in Chapeltown Park, Sheffield S35 1SX. Look out for the yellow and black SYO flag.
Timing
Turn up anytime between 11am and 2pm. There's no need to register in advance - just turn up on the day. Courses close at 2.30pm and the controls will then be collected in.
Cost
Free
Courses
There's a choice of 3 courses - short, medium & long. You can do all 3 if you like!
More about the Park
Chapeltown Park consists of a mix of parkland and ancient woodland. Blackburn Brook runs along its length. There is a lovely playground. The Blackburn valley cycle Trail can be accessed from the park and provides an extended walk on solid paths suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs. The park is located just minutes away from Chapeltown station and a good choice of shops, pubs and cafes.
Facilities
The public toilets are located by the park entrance. The Waggon & Horses (Weatherspoons) pub is offering participants a 20% discount off food - just take your results print out with you! There will also be a free facepainter!
What to wear
You don't need any special equipment or clothes. Just wear something comfortable and some sturdy shoes / trainers. A waterproof might be useful if it's wet!

There will be longer courses on offer alongside the short and easy ones for younger children. The longest courses for adults extend along the Blackburn Trail to Smithy Wood. More info available here
