Controllers' Comments

A new area, first time planner and first time organiser. What could possibly go wrong? As it turned out, very little.  Thanks to Bob and Steve from the Stannington Community centre for letting us use the hall.  Thanks to Adrien for planning the courses and Ben and Eleanor (all SHUOC) for their organisation. I'm sure you will agree that they all did a great job.  Thanks also to Ian Cooper, Chloe Potter and Alistair Pedley for the map which I thought was excellent.  Additional thanks to Lucy and Tim Wiegand for Permissions liaison and SI Management respectively. Finally, thanks to all you competitors for turning up and making the event a success.

Venue

The potential for this urban venue was spotted quite a long time ago, but developed by Chloe Potter who produced a draft map. The latest map is being drawn in 2024 by Alasdair Pedley now that he had finished his mapping work for WOC24.

The area is a mostly low-rise blocks connected by alleyways in an area of mown grass, so it provides a good challenge for a sprint event.
