It looks like one of the controls on the Yellow course may have been a little tricky, especially as making a mistake there meant you would run off the map... I hope no one got too lost.
Thank you to Karl Marshall for planning the courses and to all the helpers, especially the parents of many of the kids who have started recently.
This was the last in this years schools league, the prize giving for the league will be on Saturday 4th July at 14:30 at our event in Endcliffe Park.

Information
This is a combined Sheffield Schools and Saturday Afternoon series aimed to introduce new people to the sport and also provide training opportunities to all orienteers.
Registration for courses will open at 1pm. You can start any time from 1pm - 3pm but the courses close at 3:30pm. We will be based by the Cafe. The nearest car park is at the Rare Breeds Centre off Hemsworth Road.
Costs
Adults £4 or £3 for members of SYO or another orienteering club
Children £2
There is no charge for those pupils of Sheffield schools who subscribe to the SFSS who run the correct course for their age group. However 2nd runs will cost £2.
Any additional courses will cost an additional £1
If you would like to go around in a group you would just pay for one entry.
Schools Competition
This is the last event in the schools league so last chance to get a few more points... Please make sure that you run the right course for your school year first before attempting any other courses.
Prizes will be awarded at our event in Endcliffe Park on 4th July. Bring a picnic as the weather is bound to be glorious...
Orienteering Courses Available
If you complete a course and there is still time you are welcome to try another.

The course will use paths but also other line features - Fences, streams etc. It will also no longer have a control every time you need to decide where you are going. For example you may need to make a couple of turns on paths between controls |

Experienced orienteers or someone up for a challenge! Rather than carrying a map each control has a map extract that shows the location of the next control. You have to figure out the route and then run to the next control. If you lose your way you have no option but to retrace your steps back to the last control and try again. |
Safety & risk
A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the organiser, but participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event. If a competitor has a pre-existing medical condition that they think should be declared, please complete a medical form at enquiries. The sealed envelope will only be opened in an emergency.

SYO has an agreed policy on the taking of photographs at events, based on national guidance. This provides a sensible balance between the benefits and risks associated with the taking and use of images. If you are unsure about acceptable practice, please speak to the event organiser. Venue
Graves park is Sheffield’s largest park and arguably provides the widest variety of orienteering terrain. As well as a good path network and open spaces, there are wooded valleys, steepening at the west, with old mineral workings providing a small area of interesting contour detail.
Non-orienteering attractions include a café and a rare-breeds animal farm.
