SYO victorious in the CSC Final
On Sunday a full coach and several car loads of SYO athletes descended on the Forest of Dean to defend our Compass Sport Cup title! Over 90 of our members battled the mud, rain and very slippy slopes to emerge victorious in the battle of the big clubs. Our score of 2419 was our 2nd highest score ever. FVO put up a valiant fight, a very long way from home, to finish a well-deserved 2nd. Host club BOK finished 3rd.
Everyone who competed played their part, even if they weren’t a scorer for the club, as their result pushed down the score for other clubs! Particular congratulations to Dylan Jenkinson who pounded his way down the run-in to take the Golden Boot trophy in a super snappy 26 seconds and our 4 course overall winners, who scooped up the traditional giant Toblerone prizes:
Charlotte Chapman – orange women
Freya Tryner – green junior women
Imogen Pieters – green women
Euan Tryner – short brown men
Well done also to our other 21 counters: Jonny Crickmore (100), Cat Taylor (100), Tim Tett (99), Kim Baxter (99), Laura Robertson (99), James Bryant (98), Will Preston (98), Ella Baxter (98), Chloe Potter (98), Oli Johnson (97), Charlie Adams (96), Beth Sykes (96), Brian Shaw (96), Peter Gorvett (96), Martin Ward (95), Nick Barrable (94), Richard Baxter (93), Jenny Johnson (93), Anna Todd (92), Andy Preston (92) and Ian Cooper (90). Great to see our scores coming across all the age ranges with the youngest to the oldest all playing their part.
A huge thank you to BOK for putting on a great event in challenging conditions, Compass Sport for the wonderful prizes and SYO’s Peter Guillaume for co-ordinating the competition. Next year the final is back in its normal October slot. It will be hosted on Sunday 20th October by Pendle Forest Orienteers.
