SYO won their regional round of the Compass Sport Cup, the annual inter-club competition, knocking out 2 of last years finalists in the process.
Congratulations to everyone who ran, even if you didn't count for our score you may have beaten scorers from the other clubs.

The event was hosted by CLARO at Guisecliffe, a wooded valley with higher moorland with mine workings, near Pately Bridge. They did an excellent job in both organisation and planning of courses.
The Cup is an annual competition held between orienteering clubs with 150 or more members, with a seperate Trophy competition for smaller clubs. Competitors of all ages run in 11 different categories with the scores from the leading 25 runners from each club counting towards the clubs score. Even those that don't count towards the score can have an impact as by beating counters from other clubs they reduce rival clubs scores.
We had a great turnout of over 50 competitors which definitely helped. The final will be at Long Valley near Aldershot on Saturday 8th Nov, we will need an equally large turnout to win.
Scorers in the Regional Round. Special mention should go to Sebastian Mobus who has only just joined the club after running in some of the Schools competitions this year. Hopefully lots more juniors running these events will be able to run for us at the regional round of the Yvette Baker trophy (the junior interclub competition) on 27th April in Harrogate.
