Details
I hope you enjoyed todays sprint around Weston Park and the Uni. Apolgies for the problem with some othe units not bein SIAC enabled, I hope this didn't put you off too much. Thank you to Beverley for planning, Lucy for Controlling, Ian for several map updates and of course all our lovely helpers on the day.
Results and Splits are available on the links above, Routegadget has now also been added. The Yorkshire Urban League is now updated (see Other above). The ranking points upload has been corrected.
Controllers comments
Firstly thank you all for coming, and for the large number of positive comments on the courses, these reflect the hard work done by Beverley to get a set of interesting courses with good route choice onto a fairly limited area. I'm so sorry about the SIAC not being enabled on all the controls, the SI manager did not notice that a set had been turned off when used for some training leading to a mix. I compounded this by using an oldfashioned dibber to wake up and check the controls, a lesson I have now learned! Early runners were therefore not warned of the issue and more seriously effected. The event had a bumpy start with a change of date due to an University open day and a constant changing selection of road and building works which needed course and map adjustments, that continued after map printing.... I hope you had some fun in the sunshine and got used to a different kind of control flow by the end of your courses.
Lucy

Map is toISSprOM 2019-2 and has a full legend in uncrossable features.

Starts
1.30pm-3pm. Try to start in your start block but it's a punching start so don’t panic if you miss it.
There are two starts: blue for the senior courses, red for the junior & Hyper Vets courses. They are less than 500m from assembly. Route to the Red start exits Weston Park via the main entrance. Turn left and follow the tapes. Route to the blue start exits the park by the museum. Climb the steps and turn right after exiting the park. Take care not to collide with cafe users as you exit the park. You may also come across competitors on their courses on the route to the start - please give way.
Please note: the route to the blue start is down Mushroom Lane. This is a one way, quiet road but the pavement is narrow. Please watch out for traffic.
Finish & Course Closing
The finish is adjacent to assembly. Courses close promptly at 4pm. Please do not be late back. You should retire from your course if you cannot complete it by this time.
SI punching
SI timing will be used and controls will be SIAC enabled. You will need to manually punch the start & finish.
Control descriptions
Loose control descriptions are available for all courses. These are pictorial, except for course E (yellow) which are written. Control descriptions are also printed on the map.

Venue
Weston Park is 5-hectare traditional park very near the City Centre. Events there usually have courses that extend into Crookes Valley Park to the NW and around the buildings and grounds of Sheffield University Main Campus. The combination of complex urban terrain and runnable parkland makes for entertaining orienteering. The Weston Park Museum in one corner is an interesting family-friendly museum.
