Comments
Thank you all for coming to Wombwell Woods today and making it a very successful event. Almost all feedback was positive so I think that most of you enjoyed your course. Thanks are due to Colin Drury for spending countless hours in the wood and planning great courses despite having to deal with a late change of Start/Finish when our original choice for parking fell through. Ian Cooper put a lot of time into correcting the previous map and I think that resulted in a very accurate representation of the wood. Paul Bradbury's organisation was excellent as ever.
The sun shone, the bluebells were out and the forest floor was amazingly dry!

Additional safety info
Competitors take part at their own risk & are responsible for their own safety. First Aid will be available at the enquiries. Details and directions to the nearest A&E hospital in Barnsley will also be available there.
The area is used by dog-walkers, horse-riders, fishermen etc. In the event of anyone approaching you on a path during the event, please give them a wide berth.
There are 2 small fishing lakes in the south part of the area and the paths around these are OOB. There is a high quarry in the south part of the area - the top edge is fenced but the fence is mapped as crossable for clarity. Do not run on roads.
At enquiries we will have a place to store car keys. All lone drivers must leave their keys here and if you have come by other means (bike, walk, public transport, etc) please can you leave your details at enquiries.
Dogs
Dogs on lead are welcome.

Privacy
When entering our events your personal details (name, gender, age class & club) will appear in the results section of this website. Read our privacy policy to see how we look after your personal data.
Venue
Runnable woodland with good path network. This is a great orienteering area at any time of year, as the area of difficult vegetation is minimal. New route for HS2 may mean it should stay intact!
