Organiser's comments
Another amazing weather day… very warm for running! It was happy accident that the start and download area was so beautifully shaded – we weren’t expecting quite such a heatwave when the assembly location was finalised!
I hope you all enjoyed exploring the nooks and crannies of Dore, which looked stunning in the evening sunshine. Colin’s thoughtful control placement made for interesting problem solving and it was nice to hear positive comments from returning runners who had visited parts of Dore they never knew existed.
A very big thank you to all the helpers who contributed to the success of the event – it was definitely a case of many hands making light work for everyone – what a team!

Courses & Scoring
The aim in a score event is to find as many controls as you can in the time allowed, earning 10 points for each control visited. If you are late back you lose points. There are 2 score options:
Long Score - 60 minutes. Penalty for lateness 10 points per minute late.
Earn a bonus of 10 pts for each consecutive odd or even control visited (Long course only). For example 31 - 35 - 47 - 22 - 43 - 56 - 44 would score 10 + 20 + 20 + 10 + 10 + 10 + 20 = 100
Short Score - 45 minutes. Penalty for lateness 5 points per minute late. (No bonus scores for consecutive odds/evens.)
Only your first visit to a control counts.

Facilities
If possible, please arrive at the event ready to run and without needing to use the toilet. We thank The Hare & Hounds, Church Lane for kindly agreeing that volunteer helpers, and orienteers who have travelled from further away, may use the toilets at the bar/restaurant – this is about an 8 minute walk away from Assembly. The Hare & Hounds would be pleased to welcome thirsty and hungry orienteers during the evening for food and/or drinks. Pre-booking is not necessary, however if you prefer to reserve a table, visit https://www.thehareandhoundsdore.co.uk/ .
Volunteers
We need some volunteers to enable this race to go ahead. Control collectors are also required. If we get lots of offers it will make the job easier for all. If you can possibly collect a few controls or help in any other way please
