Details
A sweltering day for tackling Graves Park's steep slopes! Hope everyone enjoyed Alex's courses, I heard a number of comments that they enjoyed the courses which were a bit different in shape to recent courses at Graves. Results are on the link above and I'll sort out the year group results tomorrow. Thanks to all our volunteers who rather than being soaked to the skin this time had the slight more pleasant job of avoiding sunstroke!
Check the what's on page on the website for upcoming events - we have an urban race from close to Devonshire Green next Sunday, an evening event hopefullu followed by a BBQ at Hesley Woods on Wednesday 23rd June with the next Saturday afternoon event at Concord Park on 17th July.
Information

We will be based by the Cafe - what3words cling.blame.exit. The nearest car park is at the Rare Breeds Centre off Hemsworth Road - this is Pay & Display. Schools Event
Unfortunately the SFSS and National PE Association have decided that no inter-school competitions can currently take place. As a result pupils will run individually in their school years. White |
Y3/4 Y5 |

2 |
The next step up and a good place for teenagers etc. to start. The course will use paths but also other line features - Fences, streams etc. Because of the park setting there will be some controls that do not follow line feature. Instead they will be on a point feature (e.g. a tree) but close by. By turning the map so that it matches the ground you will be able to see the next control to go to. |

COVID Guidance for competitors & volunteers
Some key points from the code of conduct:
- You must not take part in any form of orienteering if you or any member of your household have had recent Covid-19 symptoms.
- Minimise contact with people from outside your household before, during and after your run. Practice social distancing at all times, including before and after your run as well as when you are out on your course. Take particular care to keep the required distance from other people in the vicinity of the Start, at download and when passing other competitors or members of the public on narrow paths, going through gates, etc.
- Sanitise your hands before and after your run.
- Do not touch the controls. If using a SIAC dibber hover your hand above the SI unit. If dibbing, just place the dibber in the hole, without touching the box.
- Please be super courteous to any members of the public that you come across before, during or after the event.
Safety & risk
A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the organiser, but participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event. If a competitor has a pre-existing medical condition that they think should be declared, please complete a medical form at enquiries. The sealed envelope will only be opened in an emergency.
Photography
SYO has an agreed policy on the taking of photographs at events, based on national guidance. This provides a sensible balance between the benefits and risks associated with the taking and use of images. If you are unsure about acceptable practice, please speak to the event organiser. Read our photography policy.
Privacy
When entering our events your personal details (name, gender, age class & club) will appear in the results section of this website. Read our privacy policy to see how we look after your personal data.
Venue
Graves park is Sheffield’s largest park and arguably provides the widest variety of orienteering terrain. As well as a good path network and open spaces, there are wooded valleys, steepening at the west, with old mineral workings providing a small area of interesting contour detail.
Non-orienteering attractions include a café and a rare-breeds animal farm.
