Planner/organiser/mapper comments:

Thank you all for coming on a glorious evening, weren't we lucky. Thanks to Pauline Tryner and Peter Gorvett for their help, we could not have managed without them. It was a bit hectic at times, and thanks for your patience, but in the end people seemed to have enjoyed the courses. Great to see so many youngsters out there - it's not easy but good to see how they managed.

Very well done to Conrad and Jamie on the score and to Dom Dakin on the long - impressive results.

We collected in the final controls from 0700 on Thursday and it was really enjoyable to be in a totally empty sunlit forest, with only the birds for company.

Results uploaded Wednesday evening and updated Thursday 12:00 to correct a wrong course allocation.  Splits for score courses not included in results splits data.  The csv file available in "other" contains them all, but it's not straightforward to analyse.  Control 36 was running about 1 minute slow, so many on the short course had a negative split to that control.

Limb Valley and Whirlow Brook Hall provide a stunning location for orienteering. The terrain is highly varied, ranging from the steep wooded valley and plantation to the formal gardens around the hall and intricate quarry area. There are a choice of different courses available catering for young juniors, newcomers and experienced orienteers.

Venue

Limb Valley includes Whirlowbrook Park, Whinfell Quarry Garden and the woods either side of Whirlow Brook.

The woodland is mixed conifer and deciduous.  Much of it is very runnable though partly steep valley sides, but there are patches of bramble and holly.
