Details
SYO are running a coaching and training session on Saturday 23rd September at Wombwell Woods near Barnsley. It is a runnable deciduous woodland, providing sufficient technical challenge for the experienced orienteer and a good path network for beginners. A number of different groups will operate catering for all ages and experiences.
Please park in the car park off Woodhead Lane (S74 9SZ) here.
If you would like to attend please email Pauline by Friday 22nd September at 12 noon so that we have enough coaches available to comply with safety rations and know what resources to prepare.
The sessions will start at 1pm. Please arrive by 12.50pm so we can get started by 1pm. Parents who wish to accompany their children on the activities are encouraged or alternatively are very welcome to join the adult's group and have a go themselves. Children under 7 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. All participants should wear full leg cover and sturdy footwear and should bring a water bottle.
Cost will be £3 per session to non-members, free to club members.
Kindest regards
Pauline
Safety & risk
A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the organiser, but participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event. If a competitor has a pre-existing medical condition that they think should be declared, please complete a medical form at enquiries. The sealed envelope will only be opened in an emergency.
Photography
SYO has an agreed policy on the taking of photographs at events, based on national guidance. This provides a sensible balance between the benefits and risks associated with the taking and use of images. If you are unsure about acceptable practice, please speak to the event organiser. Read our photography policy.
Privacy
When entering our events your personal details (name, gender, age class & club) will appear in the results section of this website. Read our privacy policy to see how we look after your personal data.
Venue
Runnable woodland with good path network. This is a great orienteering area at any time of year, as the area of difficult vegetation is minimal. New route for HS2 may mean it should stay intact!
