Description

SYO's March evening event & social is also the last of Tim Tett's Urban Night Races. It is a standard night urban orienteering race, followed by beer and pub food at the Fat Cat, Kelham Island.

It is IMPORTANT that you PRE-ENTER this event by midnight on Wednesday 8th March so the right number of maps can be printed. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. specifying what course you would like to run and state your SI card (dibber) number if you have one. Don't forget a headlight or torch and wear reflective clothing.

There will be Long, Medium and Short courses. The Long course is about 6.5km with an expected winning time of 40 mins, Med 4km and Short 2km. Entry cost is £5 (£4 members) or £3 for juniors & students. Juniors are welcome but under 16s must be shadowed by an adult due to road crossings. Start, finish and registration all at the Fat Cat. Starts from 18.45 to 19.30, courses close 20.30.


There will be a social afterwards in the Fat Cat. Food will be a choice of meat chilli, veg curry, rice and wedges and will cost £6 - you also need to pre-order food from Tim indicating choice of meat or veggie. The usual selection of choice real ale will be available.

Safety & risk

A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the organiser, but participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event. If a competitor has a pre-existing medical condition that they think should be declared, please complete a medical form at enquiries. The sealed envelope will only be opened in an emergency.

A fine pub with a great range of beer is a good starting point for an urban event which can range up to Walkley, down to the canal or into the City Centre.
