Details

Walkley is a great area for an urban event; there are so many intricate areas making it a real challenge. Shame only 30 or so of us were able to enjoy it.  Thanks to Alex, Rachael and Jim for putting it on.  Results now up.  PG

Rachael and Alex Rothman are planning and organising an evening urban event around the streets of Walkley. There will be a separate course for juniors in the Ponderosa Park.

Registration – 267 Upperthorpe, S6 3NG. There's space indoors to leave things.

Parking - on the road.

Courses - Yellow 1.5km, orange 2.1km, medium 4km and long 5.3km. All courses start in the Ponderosa; 5-10 mins walk from registration. The yellow & orange courses stay and finish in the Ponderosa; the long and medium courses finish back at Alex & Rachael's house.SI will be used.

Starts 5.30 to 6.30. Courses close 7.15pm.

Costs £4 adults, £3 members, £2 juniors

The event will be followed by a social in the Springvale from 6.45pm onwards. There is a good range of cheap food available - just order off the main menu. Nick Lightfoot will be briefly presenting information on the British Orienteering Championships for approx 30-45 mins and there will be an opportunity to look at maps and discuss potential courses / route choices.

Rachael would like an idea of the numbers of maps required and the landlady has asked for approximate numbers.

Safety & risk

A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the organiser, but participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event. If a competitor has a pre-existing medical condition that they think should be declared, please complete a medical form at enquiries. The sealed envelope will only be opened in an emergency.
