The SPOOK Relays - A level D event open to all. Pre-entry only -
Fast and Furious 6-leg, 2-person sprint-relay (allthough all intergers between 1-3 can be catered for). EWT 50-60min (8-10min per leg), legs between 1km and 1 mile in length (straight line) for fans of mixing imperial and metric. This year, in keeping with IOF and the push for Olympic Status, the SPOOK relays shall be going all sprint-relay style. Given the unfair advantage many ShUOC/SPOOK have of The Edge I shall try to come up with some form of handicap system. Definite forfeits for wearing of gaiters. Comedy batons encouraged.
Due to courses crossing 2 public (residential) roads, all competitors must be at least 16 years old or shadowed by an adult.
Event Centre: The ShUOC tent, The Paddock, just north of ‘The Edge at Endcliffe Village’.
Mass Start: 12:00 prompt(ish). Runner 1 runs, hands over to runner 2, hands over to runner 1, hands over to runner 2, hands over to runner 1, hands over to runner 2 who finishes.
Toilets and Bar available in The Edge.
Full SI punching. If controls are busy please don’t fight, it’s unseemly.
Travel and Parking: Pop the postcode above into Google/a sat nav. The best place for parking is probably on local roads, the best being Endcliffe Vale road – I shall go and scout out non-permit parking areas before the day!
Public transport from the city centre would be via the 52, 51 or 120 busses. Alight at Broomhill (the 120 goes a bit further in the correct direction along Fulwood Road) before walking to The Padock. You may see some controls on your way in. Don’t cheat.
If you don’t have a partner, let me know and I will hopefully pair you up with another lonely orienteer.
Entries: £5 per runner/£10 per team (£3/£6 students). Enter via email – subject SPOOK Relays – to nowbarber88 [at] gmail [dot] com, stating team name, team members and their running order (1st or 2nd), their SI card and BOF numbers and if you have paid by BACS or intend to pay on the day.
*PRE-ENTRY ONLY*
*ENTRIES MUCT BE RECEIVED BY 29th NOVEMBER*.
Payment: Pay by BACS to my account (not SPOOK's - all money will make its way to ShUOC, don't worry! Account number: 43001580 Sort Code: 01-06-05 ) or pay on day (correct change please). All profits to ShUOC with an as-yet undetermined percentage (watch this space) going to charitable causes.
Make a weekend of it with the SYO event on Wharnecliffe the following day! There’ll be plenty of worse-for-wear orienteers there (OK, on the startlist at least) so a good chance to massage your BOF ranking points!

Venue
The Edge is the main campus in Endcliffe Student Village; it is typical University Campus with a mixture of older buildings and modern accomodation blocks dotted around a grassy sloping site which also includes steps and water. The map also covers some other areas in the village east of the campus, which are mostly older buildings with interlinked gardens and wider grounds.
