Details
Hope you enjoyed the flat lands of Sandall Beat. Enough features in the forest to make for interesting courses thanks to good planning from Dean Field, ably controlled by Clive Wilson with organisation from Lucy Wiegand assisted by all our volunteers. Thank you to all of you for your efforts.

Some of you may be aware that we had a couple of control problems early on. Control 61 was un-responsive when the controller arrived so we programmed a new one, checked it and got out in the forest. However competitors found that it wasn't working again. Joe Woodley volunteered to take a new box out and finally we had a working 61. Good to see that you were all punching your maps... Hopefully you weren't delayed too much by remembering how pin punches worked!
We also lost control 73 early on, this was only used on the Light Green course. We got a new box out as quick as possible. Given the level of the event we have decided that the fairest option available to us is to remove the legs into and out of the control. There has been a debate recently about having to void the whole course in the case of missing or incorrectly placed controls. However as this control was close to the end of the course we think there would would have been minimal impact to competitors who did find the control missing.

Terrain & Map
Fast runnable forest with plenty of gully / ditch features and Rhododendron / holly bushes providing plenty of spot features. A good path network provides for appropriate junior courses. Terrain will be fast and the area not large enough to allow for an appropriate winning time Brown, so courses capped at Blue.

Costs
Adults £8 (£6 for members of an orienteering club)

Second runs etc. will cost an additional £1
If you would like to go around in a group you would just pay for one entry, plus £1 for each extra map.
If you do not have an SI card (dibber) you will have to hire one for £1. Lost SI cards will be charged at £30.
Orienteering Courses Available
If you complete a course and there is still time you are welcome to try another.
Competitors take part at their own risk. Large drainage ditches should be crossed with care and the railway is out of bounds and to be crossed only by the bridge.
All courses are open to all. The rules of the YBT are a bit complex, read them on the British orienteering website or we will have a copy on the day if you are unsure which class your children should enter.

A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the organiser, but participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event.
