Information
Club members are invited to the annual SYO fun orienteering event is on Saturday 28th November in Limb Valley / Whirlowbrook Hall. The format is a handicapped score (with a secret twist). It will last 45 minutes with a mass start at 10.30am. (Meet 10.15am at the latest).
The aim is that everyone will finish at the same time, if your handicap has been calculated correctly! It is suitable for all, regardless of age or experience, although children who can not complete a yellow on their own should be accompanied by an adult.
After the race we will gather (around 12.30pm) at the Norfolk Arms in Ringinglow for a substantial hot & cold buffet lunch, which SYO are partially subsidising. Lunch will be followed by a very brief AGM and our annual awards ceremony.
So that we can notify the pub of numbers and calculate the handicapped courses, you must pre-enter by Tuesday 10th November.
Costs:(payable on the day)
Lunch and a free run £10 adults, £5 juniors, Free under 5s.
Run only £2 adults, £1 juniors.
Please see the attached flyer for full details of parking, map, terrain etc.
Safety & risk
A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the organiser, but participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event. If a competitor has a pre-existing medical condition that they think should be declared, please complete a medical form at enquiries. The sealed envelope will only be opened in an emergency.
Photography
SYO has an agreed policy on the taking of photographs at events, based on national guidance. This provides a sensible balance between the benefits and risks associated with the taking and use of images. If you are unsure about acceptable practice, please speak to the event organiser. Read our photography policy.
Privacy
When entering our events your personal details (name, gender, age class & club) will appear in the results section of this website. Read our privacy policy to see how we look after your personal data.
Venue
Limb Valley includes Whirlowbrook Park, Whinfell Quarry Garden and the woods either side of Whirlow Brook.
The woodland is mixed conifer and deciduous. Much of it is very runnable though partly steep valley sides, but there are patches of bramble and holly.
