Details
Schools Results have now been calculated and are available using the 'Other' link above. Whilst not final yet they will be unless we have any errors in names etc.
Scroll down for the School team results. These are based on the top 4 individual results from the school.
Note that there a couple of non-competitive results from people running the course a second time. You are welcome to run a course again, especially if you have problems the first time around but it is the first run that is the one that counts!
Quite a few people punched the wrong No. 3 control on the Yellow. Looking at the course we should have made sure this was further from the White course control on the bridge. The codes on the control does tell you if it is the correct one so do check them, there is nothig worse than running hard around the course only to find that you have missed a control! We also had quite a number of people either not 'dibbing' the start or finish, always try a remember to do this so you get an accurate time.
(Update 29 Sep: Results have been updated. We've managed to match up most of the unknown runners, if you still can't see your name or there are other details wrong please let us know)
Hope everyone had a great time today at Endcliffe. Fantastic turnout, I hope no one had to wait too long for a map or dibber.
The very preliminary results are available from the link above and also split times so you can see where you lost those vital seconds. As you will see there are a number of results that have 'E-card...' please check to make sure you are on the list. If you can see an e-card where you should be please drop me an email. Also if you see any spelling mistakes, incorrect years, schools etc. please let me know. We will be going through the results and updating school years based on last years information. Hopefully we will have updated results soon.
Finally a huge thank you to everyone who helped today, without all their efforts the event could not have taken place. See you all at Graves Park in a couple of weeks.
Pete Tryner, Organiser

You are welcome to fill this out in advance and bring it with you when you download (with the £1 entry fee for the second course) and we can give you a map to save queuing again.
Orienteering Courses Available
If you complete a course and there is still time you are welcome to try another.
See below for details on the courses on offer. Distances are provisional
Course | School Years | Distance | Technical Level | Who is it for? |
White |
Y4,5 |
1.5km | 1 | The easiest course and a great place for children to start. The course is entirely on paths and each time you have to make a decision - which path to take, there will be a control point. Year 3 pupils can compete with Y4s. |
Yellow | Y6,7 | 2.2km | 2 | The next step up and a good place for teenagers etc. to start. The course will use paths but also other line features - Fences, streams etc. It will also no longer have a control everytime you need to decide where you are going. For example you may need to make a couple of turns on paths between controls |
Orange | Y8,9 | 2.6km | 3 |
Harder still, the Orange course introduces:
|
Long Orange | Y10+ | 4.5km | 3 |
Similar difficulty to an orange course, but quite a bit further! This course is split into 2 parts with part 1 printed on one side, when you get to the last control you turn over to part 2 |
Light Green | 3.4km | 4 |
Ideal for improvers The navigation difficulty increases and you start to use simple contours and point features. |
|
Map Memory | 2.7km | 4 |
Experienced orienteers or someone up for a challenge! Rather than carrying a map each control has a map extract that shows the location of the next control. You have to figure out the route and then run to the next control. If you lose your way you have no option but to retrace your steps back to the last control and try again. |
Safety & risk
A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the organiser, but participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event. If a competitor has a pre-existing medical condition that they think should be declared, please complete a medical form at enquiries. The sealed envelope will only be opened in an emergency.
