Details
Good turnout at Endcliffe in the lovely sunny weather. Results and split times can be seen using the links above (No split times for the score course though).
Thank you to Dominic Dakin for planning, Ricky, Pauline, Colin, Ryan and Alex for putting out and collecting controls and to everyone else who helped. Having lots of volunteers makes organising much easier.
Photos from the prize-giving will be uploaded shortly...
There is plenty of orienteering to keep you interested over the summer, check our events page for details. The schools league will be back in September look forward to seeing you all then.
Event Information
Based outside the cafe in Endcliffe park this event is suitable for all ages and abilities.
Endcliffe park and the cafe are here
Registration for courses will open at 12:45pm. You can start any time from 1pm - 2pm but the courses close at 2.30pm.
Schools Prize Giving
The Prize giving for this years schools league will take place at 14:30 next to registration. There will be medals for the top 3 in each class and certificates for anyone who completed 5 or more of the competitions. A small momento will also be presented to children who attended all 9 schools' league events.
Orienteering Courses Available
See below for details on the courses on offer. Distances are provisional. We may also have a longer course heading into Bingham Park, details to come...
Course | Distance | Technical Level | Who is it for? |
White | 1.2km | 1 | The easiest course and a great place for children to start. The course is entirely on paths and each time you have to make a decision - which path to take, there will be a control point. |
Yellow | 1.8km | 2 | The next step up and a good place for teenagers etc. to start. The course will use paths but also other line features - Fences, streams etc. It will also no longer have a control everytime you need to decide where you are going. For example you may need to make a couple of turns on paths between controls |
Score Course | 30 minutes | 2 |
Something a bit different. With a score course you have a certain time limit (30 minutes in this case) to visit as many controls as possible. All controls are in Endcliffe Park. Each control is worth 10 points but beware, if you are late then you will receive a 10 second penalty for each minute (or part of a minute) you are late... You can start the score course anytime you want but to make things interesting we will be having a mass start at 13:30. |
Costs
Adults £4, £3 for club members
Children £2.
Any additional courses will cost an additional £1
If you would like to go around in a group you would just pay for one entry.
Safety & risk
A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the organiser, but participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event. If a competitor has a pre-existing medical condition that they think should be declared, please complete a medical form at enquiries. The sealed envelope will only be opened in an emergency.
