Competitors are reminded that Ramsley Moor is exposed moorland at 300m elevation and at night in the middle of winter can be potentially hazardous.
You must wear or at least carry a waterproof hooded jacket. This will be checked at the Start. If it is particularly cold hat and gloves are strongly recommended.
Whistles must be carried. No whistle - No Go.
Carrying a mobile phone is strongly recommended with SYO emergency number 07493 183323 pre-programmed into the memory.
Please advise Registration if you intend to carry a phone with you.
Please ensure your batteries are fully charged and your lighting equipment is working before going to the start. A spare emergency torch is strongly recommended. The moon will be almost full but can’t be guaranteed to give much light in the event your head torch packs up.
Don’t forget Competitors are responsible for their own safety.
People travelling alone should leave their car keys at Registration with their particulars.
Nearest A and E: Calow Hospital, Chesterfield. 01246 277271 or the Whitworth at Darley Dale for minor injuries 01629 593068.
Edale Mountain Rescue can be alerted by calling 999 and asking for Police/Mountain Rescue.

Venue

Ramsley Moor was mapped and used for the first time in 2009 and was described on Nopesport by one well known member of AIre as "a real gem"

Open mostly heathery moorland with large areas of runnable woodland, dissected by a large valley.   There are few linear features.  If it is wet, spotting the best crossing point  for some of the marshes can be important.
