Congratulations to our new club champions:
Junior: Euan Tryner (with a bit of help) and Julian Hird
Senior: Pauline Tryner
Men: Roger Lewis
Thanks to Kevin Randall and Gemma Tate for putting on an enjoyable event and social.
As in the last few years each competitor was given a target number of controls to find and the first back from the mass start who had achieved their target was the winner.
Unfortunately the event software can't generate splits for this sort of event, but the control sequence is given in the results.
The Event: LOXLEY COMMON,
There will be a mass start at 11:30, with an early mass start for split starts and possibly a late one for younger juniors.
Please arrive in plenty of time to register. Registration and car parking will be at the car park at the east side of Loxley Common (nearest postcodeS6 4BL).
The course will be on and around Loxley Common. We will all walk to the start together, which will be about 500m. So please be ready to set off from the car park at 11:15.
The pub has toilets but no showering facilities.
Cost: £7 adults, £4 (TBC) juniors this will include a run and food.
The Social: WADSLEY JACK,65 Rural Lane, Sheffield S6 4BJ
The meal is provided by the Wadsley Jack, at approximately 13:30 and will cost £6 adults, £4 (TBC) juniors if you are not running.
There will be a choice of a meat stew OR meat curry OR a vegetarian option. There will also be a selection of desserts to follow.
If you have any particular dietary requirements please let me know and I’ll do my best to get the pub to cater for this eg diabetic, vegan, gluten free.....
Unfortunately drinks are not included in this price!!
Please contact me on either gemma.tate at ymail.com (preferred) or 01142496887 (voicemail facility, no calls after 21:30 (9.30pm). I need your responses before Sunday 2nd December so I can confirm numbers for food on Monday 3rd December.
Please use ‘SYO club champs’ as the subject of any email so I can pick them out easily from the hordes that I get each day!!
Safety & risk
A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the organiser, but participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event. If a competitor has a pre-existing medical condition that they think should be declared, please complete a medical form at enquiries. The sealed envelope will only be opened in an emergency.
Photography
SYO has an agreed policy on the taking of photographs at events, based on national guidance. This provides a sensible balance between the benefits and risks associated with the taking and use of images. If you are unsure about acceptable practice, please speak to the event organiser. Read our photography policy.
Privacy
When entering our events your personal details (name, gender, age class & club) will appear in the results section of this website. Read our privacy policy to see how we look after your personal data.
Venue
Loxley Common comprises of large areas of open common land, runnable underfoot with a complex network of paths on grass, heather and bracken common. To the south there is an area of woodland, with a small section very bouldery. There is some intricate contour detail created by old mine/quarry workings..
The area was used for the Senior Home International relays in 2006 with a resurvey by Oli Johnson; minor updates have been undertaken in 2010 and 2012.
