Organiser's Comments
Thanks to all who ran at Hugset, especially those who travelled a fair distance. Apologies for my misplacement of a control on a thicket, hope it didn't spoil runs too much. The event was all sorted in under a week, after it became clear there was a demand to have the event at Hugset. Well done to Simon on his planning of the courses. SYO guidance for this event was to have an estimated winning time of 35-50 min for long and middle, which seems spot on.

Venue
Hugset Wood, not far from junction 37 on the M1, is a small wood full of bell-pits and other evidence of mining activity. It is very similar to Tankersley Wood nearby, which is arguably technically the best of SYO's areas.
The wood offers a fast and challenging race on old mining terrain in mainly gently-sloping runnable mature woodland. It contains over 80 bell pits, some of whose spoil mounds are over 25m in diameter. There are also over 200 other pits and depressions as well as many other brown features in an area less that 1sq km. The pits vary in size with the largest 5 being up to 15m diameter and 5m deep.
