Details
Looks like we timed the event perfectly to hit the 2 hours of rain passing over Sheffield this evening - keeps it real...
Thank you to Karl for planning, Alex for organising and all our helpers on the night, especially those pulling big shifts on the start and going out later to collect controls.
Results and splits are available on the links above. As many of you will know we had an issue with one of the start boxes not working, which seems to also have turned peopls SIAC units off. I added a start time for you normally a round minute after you cleared but you will see from the splits that it wasn't entirely acurate and a fair few are either showing as a mistake or a fastest split. Apologies for this but short of everyone telling me their times and going back through updating and re-processing each result the results are what they are.. (Jenny I know I have your time but after seeing that Nathan is just ahead of you I can't bring myself to change it!)

Terrain
Lees Hall golf course is situated on the southern edge of the city near Graves Park and adjacent to the Lees Hall and Gleadless Valley woods. It is an interesting and varied golf course, divided into two halves by a public footpath that forms part of the Round Sheffield Walk / Run. The half nearest the clubhouse has two fairly level open areas divided by a wooded slope and is interspersed with small areas of woodland, trees and ditches, offering safe and enclosed orienteering for the shorter courses. The half beyond the footpath provides more varied and steeply sloping terrain, with a considerable elevation drop from top to bottom. It is divided into a number of open areas separated by woodland and several steep-sided streams and ditches which feed into the Meersbrook and Gleadless Valley.
Coneygree Wood is a deciduous urban woodland in the Gleadless Valley. Streamlined valleys, a wide variety of vegetation, a network of paths and some interesting contour detail will provide a challenge for experienced orienteers

Venue
Lees Hall golf course was mapped for night events in 2021, having been secured by a local member who saw its potential while running round there during the first lockdown in 2020. It is an interesting and varied golf course, divided into two halves by a public footpath that forms part of the Round Sheffield Walk / Run. The clubhouse and car park are on Hemsworth Road, a couple of hundred metres east of the main entrance to Graves Park.
In 2023/24 the map is being extended by Oli Johnson to include Coneygree Wood.
