Relay Entry Deadlines Approaching
There are two fantastic opportunities to run for SYO at big national relays coming up! Relays are fun, fast and exciting to participate in and there is a relay for you no matter your speed or ability. Younger juniors need to be able to complete a yellow course to take part. We are particularly keen for those who have never competed in a relay before to give it a go. There is even a mini relay for under 12s. Entries are subsidised by the club.
The JK Relays are to be held very locally at Stanton Moor, near Bakewell so it would be incredible to have a huge SYO participation. The event is Easter Monday 1st April. Information on the JK relays can be found here. Please sign up by 4th March. Entry is £16 for adults and £8 for juniors.
The British Relay Champs are being held near Whitby on the 14th April, the day after the British Long Distance Champs. Information on the British Relays can be found here. Please sign up by 17th March. Entry is also £16 for adults and £8 for juniors.
Enter for both events on SYO Teams, via this link. Any questions, please contact club captain, Chris Williamson

Event Officials
We are so grateful to all those that take on the main event official roles (organiser, planner & controller) at our events. Please take a look at the programme of events here and email Susan if you can fulfil one of the roles.
Upcoming positions that we particularly need to fill soon are:
Wed 20th Mar - Redmires - organiser Wed 1st May - Hesley - planner & organiser Wed 5th June - Scholes Coppice (new area!) - Organiser & Planner Wed 3rd July - Whitwell Woods - Organiser & Planner Sun 10th Nov - Blacka Moor Regional event - Organiser
Wednesday and Saturday events are ideal for first time planners and help and mentoring will be provided. Wednesday event organisers are required mainly "on the day" as most of the "in advance" jobs are done for you - risk assessment, entries, website details, finding helpers etc so this is an easy way to get involved in organising.

Fabian4 Administrator required
SYO require a new Fabian4 administrator. The person will be responsible for setting up entries on Fabian4 for our regional and national events. This is normally for no more than 5-6 events per year as entries for all our other events are done via the SYO entry syste. Full training will be given. Many thanks to Peter Gorvett, who has fulfilled this role for the past few years. Please email Peter if you would be willing to take over.

2023 Club Champs & Awards Report
The 2023 annual club champs were held in the gloriously Autumnal Ecclesall Woods on Saturday 16th December. There was a mass start score event for experienced orienteers and a yellow and orange course for younger juniors and newcomers. On the orange course, first male junior was Louis and first female junior Eliza Jones; while on the yellow first female was Martha and first male Jacob.
