August events - enter now

Just a quick reminder to enter our 2 August events.......entries for the score close on Monday and enter for the sprint race by Sunday 13th to guarantee your map.

Tuesday 8th August - Hathersage Score 

Explore the beautiful countryside surrounding Hathersage at our evening score event. You will have 60, 90 or 120 minutes (choose how long you want to be out)  to find as many of the controls as you can in the time allowed. The course uses the MapRun mobile phone/Garmin Watch app. There are no control flags out but the app will beep to notify you when you reach the correct point. You will be provided with a printed map. It is the same concept as the very enjoyable Peak Raid series and uses an extract of the 1:25,000 OS map. Pairs are very welcome - just pay for 1 entry (and order an extra map if required).

The full score map crosses roads so is only suitable for those aged 16 years and above unless accompanied by an adult.  Experienced juniors aged between 12 and 15 can compete on their own on the Under 16s course but please note this course does cross minor roads. Those under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

You can start anytime between 17.30 and 18.45 but courses close at 8.30pm. Please enter in advance on the SYO entry system by Monday 7th August. More event details are available here.

Saturday 19th August - Regional Sprint Race

Join us for a fabulous sprint orienteering race at Weston Park, Crookes Valley Park and Sheffield University.  This is a single part sprint with results counting in the YHOA urban league. More details are available here.

Entries are open on Fabian 4 until Sunday 13th August. Entries on-line after this date are subject to map availability until Thursday 17th August. There is also an option of running a 2nd course for £1 non-competitively after your first run.

As usual we require volunteers to enable this event to go ahead successfully. Please enter using SYOHELPER to receive a 50% discount and email Pauline with any job preferences.
