Club training at LoxleyThe club provides regular events in the South Yorkshire region as well as training session often tied in with the University orienteering club ShUOC. New members are always welcome and enquiries should be addressed to Jill Gorvett, SYO Membership Secretary. Please feel free to come along and give orienteering a go at one of our events, training sessions or club nights (see fixtures page) before joining up.

Many SYO members also train, and race, with local running clubs namely Dark Peak Fell Runners and Hallamshire Harriers.

South Yorkshire Orienteers has members from under 10 years old to over 70. We seek to make their
orienteering enjoyable and safe. The club achieved Clubmark status in 2007.

For the benefit of all our members we work within the Health and Safety guidelines laid down by British Orienteering.

We take our duty of care seriously and seek to ensure that children and vulnerable adults have fun, learn and develop and to help us in this aim we have adopted and promote The British Orienteering policy on Protecting Young and Vulnerable People. We have codes of conduct for Officials and Volunteers, Parents and juniors. We have a Lead Junior Coach who sits on the management committee, as does the Junior Co-ordinator. We also have a Junior Team manager.

We wish to be an inclusive club and seek to make sure that orienteering is an activity open to anyone who wishes to take part in whatever role. We support British Orienteering's Equality and Inclusion policy.
